Lake Kivu is shared between Congo and Rwanda, It is one among the African Great lakes. The lake is home to various activities you can have while there. You can choose to take a boat cruise and enjoy the sights and sounds of the neighboring towns and villages. You can join the local fishermen on a fishing expedition, the lake is safe for one to swim as there is no Bilharzia and no danger of Crocodile or Hippos, for bird lovers – you have chances of viewing some water birds and kayaking.
There are islands you can visit with the notable ones being Idjwi Island and Tchegera Island. Idjwi is located in the south of the lake nearer to Bukavu and is the biggest island on the lake and the 10th largest lake island in the world.
