This safari gives you the best of Rwanda and Tanzania – gorilla trekking in Rwanda and game drives in Serengeti and Ngorongoro crater. Prime destinations for wildlife viewing in both countries.
DAY 1: WELCOME TO RWANDA
Welcome to Rwanda the “land of a thousand hills.” Our guide/ representative staff will be at the airport to pick you and transfer you to the hotel for check in and overnight.
DAY 2: TRANSFER TO VOLCANOES NATIONAL PARK
Have breakfast and then leave for Volcanoes national park. Start with canoeing river Mukungwa – enjoy Rwandan stories from your guide as you watch birds in the agricultural lands and wetlands along the river.
Have lunch and check in to your lodge.
DAY 3: GORILLA TREKKING | GORILLA GUARDIANS VILLAGE
Start the gorilla trek with a briefing from the ranger guide at the park headquarters. After the brief, join a gorilla group with guidance from your tour guide. Depending on location of gorilla family, you might have to drive to the trail head. After one hour with the gorillas, you start your hike out of the park. Your driver guide will pick you up and transfer you to the lodge for down time.
In the afternoon, visit the Gorilla Guardians village. Learn about the culture and history of Rwanda. Try out your bow and arrow shooting skills or basketry etc.
DAY 4: GOLDEN MONKEYS | TRANSFER TO KIGALI
Golden monkeys are in the Virunga volcanoes of Uganda, Rwanda and DR Congo. After a short brief from the ranger guide, you will start your hike up in search of the golden monkeys. The golden monkeys are more active than the gorillas and you will follow them as they move to feed. Like gorilla trekking, you are only allowed 1 hour with the golden monkey. Return to the lodge, have lunch and freshen up after which you leave for Kigali.
DAY 5: DEPARTURE TO ARUSHA
Transfer to the airport for departure morning flight. On arrival at the Kilimanjaro International Airport, our customer care representative will give a brief before you start your safari and then transfer to Arusha. Arusha, the gateway to the world-famous game sanctuaries of Serengeti, Ngorongoro, Tarangire and Lake Manyara, is one of the oldest towns in Tanzania. Arrive at your hotel and check in.
DAY 6: TRANSFER TO SERENGETI
Depart with picnic lunchboxes for the beautiful Serengeti National Park, where you will arrive in time for an afternoon game drive till late in the evening when you check in. Depending on the time of year you travel, the camp is moved to the area where the migration is happening.
DAY 7 – 8: SERENGETI | DISCOVER THE WILD WORLD
You will spend the next several day exploring the vast Serengeti plains. You will rise early to enjoy an early morning game drives. At sunrise, you will encounter animals grazing in the beautiful light of sunrise and predators may still be busy hunting before retiring to rest for the day. You have the option to return to your accommodation for a hot lunch or to opt for a packed lunch which can be enjoyed at one of the various picnic sites found in the Serengeti. After lunch, you will continue on a game drive. Around the time of dusk be on the lookout for lions.Cheetahs can also be spotted on the plains in the early morning and late afternoon when temperatures are not too high. They rely on daylight and speed to catch their prey. Hippo pods can be seen in the bigger pools and rivers while crocodiles can be seen sunning themselves on the riverbanks.
DAY 9: TRANSFER TO NGONGORONGORO CRATER
After your breakfast, you will depart for the Ngorongoro National Conservation Area to arrive in time for a picnic lunch at the floor of the Ngorongoro Crater. Thereafter, you will have an afternoon game drive the Ngorongoro Crater.This area’s main attraction is the Ngorongoro Crater, fondly known as “Africa’s Garden of Eden”. Being the world’s largest unbroken caldera, Ngorongoro is home to over 25,000 animals. It is considered one of the best game viewing spots in the world with a chance to see the big five, zebras and wildebeests.
DAY 10: ARUSHA | DEPARTURE
Depending on your departure flight time, have breakfast and depart for Arusha and continue to Kilimanjaro international airport.
