Uganda and Rwanda are home to a number of primates which include Golden Monkeys and Mountain gorillas. On this tour you will experience these primates in two prime parks i.e. golden monkeys in Volcanoes national park and Mt Gorillas in Mgahinga gorilla national park.

Day 1: Arrival in Kigali and transfer to Volcanoes National Park
Today, you will leave Kigali and transfer to Volcanoes national park in the north of Rwanda. You will have an opportunity for a morning Kigali City tour if this of interest to you, you will visit the Kigali Genocide memorial, Kandt Museum and the craft market. Otherwise depending on arrival time, you will be transferred directly to Volcanoes national park.

Day 2: Golden Monkey trekking in Volcanoes national park
After breakfast, your driver guide will transfer you to the briefing area at the park. The ranger guide allocated to your group will brief you about your time in the forest in search of these golden monkeys.
Golden monkeys reside in the Virunga regions of Uganda, Rwanda and DR Congo. They are very active, often found foraging for food at the time of your visit this implies that you will follow them as they feed. Sometimes they are seen getting into the surrounding gardens for potatoes but their all time delicacy is bamboo shoots.

Day 3: Transfer to Uganda
Today morning, after a relaxed morning your naturalist guide will pick you up and you start your journey to Uganda on the other side of the Virunga’s. The afternoon will be spent at your lodge relaxing while you read a book or sip your favourite drink with views of the forest or mountains.

Day 4: Gorilla trekking in Uganda
Today is the day you will meet the mountain gorillas in their habitant in Bwindi impenetrable national park or Mgahinga gorilla national park. Your driver guide will transfer you to the briefing place where you will be allocated a gorilla group to trek. The trek can last from an hour or several hours depending on where they nested the previous night – you need to be relatively fit to enjoy this experience. After locating them, you are allowed one hour with them before starting your trek back.

Day 5: Transfer to Rwanda – Kigali international airport
Depending on your flight, you will leave your lodge in the morning and do a short city tour of Kigali before proceeding to the airport for your departure flight.
